David French to Address PCA General Assembly

A fourth speaker has been invited to participate in the panel. While the other three are respected elders and churchmen in the PCA, the other is neither an officer nor a member of the Presbyterian Church in America. But a highly polarizing and frequent critic of the visible Church generally and evangelicalism in particular: New York Times columnist David French.

…If you are concerned about this invitation and what messages are being sent by inviting Mr French to address the Assembly, I urge you to do something.

First, reach out to the PCA Stated Clerk’s office and share with him your objections and/or encouragements on this matter:

Remember: unlike the breakout seminars, the “Assembly-Wide Seminar” is not coordinated by Covenant College.

Second – and more importantly – show up to vote at General Assembly. The Nominating Committee Report is a special order at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 14. During this time we will have opportunity to vote for the men who serve on the Permanent Committees of the PCA who supervise the day-to-day operations of the Church. The Permanent Committees are the ones who execute the policies and priorities of the General Assembly. And personnel is policy.

Third, raise awareness about this decision on social media and in your local congregation with your elders. Many elders may be unaware of this seminar, but it will be encouraging to them if they have members taking an interest in General Assembly.
